Availability comes from the registry's own RDAP service. It's accurate, but the registrar's checkout is always the final word — premium and reserved names can still be blocked there.

Once you've bought it

A brand new domain does nothing until you point it somewhere. Two routes:

Keep DNS at the registrar and add an A record for @ pointing at your server's IP, plus a CNAME for www. Simplest option — follow the guide for your registrar.
Move DNS to your host or to Cloudflare by changing the nameservers. Recreate your records at the new provider first, then switch, so nothing goes dark.
