Once you've bought it

A brand new domain does nothing until you point it somewhere. Two routes:

  • Keep DNS at the registrar and add an A record for @ pointing at your server's IP, plus a CNAME for www. Simplest option — follow the guide for your registrar.
  • Move DNS to your host or to Cloudflare by changing the nameservers. Recreate your records at the new provider first, then switch, so nothing goes dark.
