How to change DNS records at GreenGeeks

Eco-branded cPanel host.

Where the DNS settings live

  1. Sign in to the GreenGeeks dashboard and open cPanel for the account.
  2. Open Zone Editor and click Manage next to the domain.

Adding a record

  1. Click Add Record, pick the type, fill in name/TTL/value, then Add Record.

Editing or deleting a record

  1. Click Edit on the record, change it, and Save Record. Use Delete to remove.

Changing the nameservers

  1. Change nameservers at the registrar. If GreenGeeks is the registrar, use the dashboard's Domains section.

GreenGeeks nameservers

These are the values you would set at your registrar to let GreenGeeks run your DNS. Always confirm them in your own account — several providers assign per-account values.

  • ns1.greengeeks.com
  • ns2.greengeeks.com

Gotchas at GreenGeeks

  • Standard cPanel behaviour: the zone is only authoritative while GreenGeeks nameservers are in use.

After you save

DNS changes are not instant. Resolvers keep the old answer until the previous record's TTL expires, so a record with a 4-hour TTL can take 4 hours to change everywhere — occasionally longer if an ISP ignores TTLs. Check what the world currently sees before assuming something is broken, and see the troubleshooting page if it still looks wrong after the TTL has passed.
