How to change DNS records at Wix
Website builder that also sells domains and hosts DNS.
Where the DNS settings live
- Sign in and open Domains from your Wix account menu.
- Click the three-dot icon next to the domain and choose Manage DNS Records.
Adding a record
- Find the section for the record type you need (A, CNAME, MX, TXT each have their own block).
- Click + Add Record inside that block.
- Enter the host name and value, then Save.
Editing or deleting a record
- Click the pencil next to the record, change the value, and save.
- The bin icon deletes it.
Changing the nameservers
- Wix only offers a nameserver change if the domain is registered with Wix.
- From the domain's advanced settings choose Change Your Wix Nameservers, then I want to use external nameservers.
Wix nameservers
These are the values you would set at your registrar to let Wix run your DNS. Always confirm them in your own account — several providers assign per-account values.

Gotchas at Wix
- If your Wix site is connected by "pointing" rather than nameservers, the DNS editor at Wix is not the one in effect — edit records at your registrar instead.
- Wix does not allow deleting the records that keep a connected Wix site online.
After you save
DNS changes are not instant. Resolvers keep the old answer until the previous record's TTL expires, so a record with a 4-hour TTL can take 4 hours to change everywhere — occasionally longer if an ISP ignores TTLs. Check what the world currently sees before assuming something is broken, and see the troubleshooting page if it still looks wrong after the TTL has passed.
